Krista Bjork, MABC
Lead Counselor, Owner
Advanced Degree Certification, ABC
I’ve been through a lot of “junk” in my life- childhood abuse, divorce, chronic illness, miscarriage, parenting a special needs child- and I know you have, too. These experiences have all represented times when I wrestled with doubt, fear, sadness, loneliness, and even feeling abandoned by God. In each season, He has been faithful to carry me through (sometimes dragged me kicking and screaming) and shown me more of who He is. This is what fuels my vision in counseling, writing, and speaking- the desire to come alongside fellow strugglers and offer the comfort that I have been given.
I don't like spiritual platitudes. When you are in a dark season, sometimes Scripture can feel that way. That's why I like to be real and authentic, to be practical and personal, in how I present and apply it. Some people don't love the raw approach, but if you've ever been kicked in the teeth by life and yet still love and want to honor God, if you've ever failed and fallen on your rear end but still want to be used by Him, let's work together.
I am the mom of three exceptional young men, Lukas, Levi, and Titus. We live in the Chicagoland suburbs. I have a B.A. in Church Ministries, an M.A. in Biblical Counseling, and am certified with the Association of Biblical Counselors. However, my most meaningful education has been from my life experiences and the people I’ve had the privilege to meet as I’ve traveled and moved around. I love music of all kinds. I enjoy baking and creating healthier twists on classic Southern foods. I am an avid reader, but have a particular fondness for classic literature.
Counselor (ABC Certification in progress), Media Manager, Equipping Minds Certified
I have worked as a counselor in the field of human services, serving families and individuals affected by disabilities. I am certified in Equipping Minds™ Cognitive Development therapy, and I am currently pursuing ABC Certification. I have 19 years of ministry experience serving in the local church, and internationally ministering to high-risk women and children, including orphans, in Romania and Guatemala.
I have a passion for coming alongside others with compassionate, empathetic understanding, and practical support from a biblical worldview.
I have faced many challenges throughout my life including adverse childhood experiences, chronic illness, disability, anxiety, and depression. I know firsthand that life is hard and no one makes it alone. I would be honored to come alongside you on your journey to help you find lasting hope for the very real problems of life.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music and podcasts, cooking, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Counselor, ABC Certification in Progress
I am a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Services and an emphasis in Child Welfare. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Social Work as well as my ABC certification. I spent my undergraduate years working at a domestic violence shelter that provided crisis care to survivors of abuse. I also served as a crisis counselor at a child advocacy center where I met with children and their non-offending caregivers before and after forensic interviews.
I have a passion for helping my clients find the hope that comes from Christ while also coming alongside them as they learn practical ways to cope with the struggles of life. I believe strongly that God uses all things for His glory and our good (Romans 8:28).
I have faced many challenges in my life including the loss of a parent from illness, church hurt, abuse, depression, and anxiety. I understand that everyone’s struggles are unique to them, and I desire to be continually growing in understanding of my clients' stories so as to be able to come alongside them in the most empathetic way possible. There is hope and joy in Christ and His word, and it would be a gift to come alongside you in your walk with Christ, wherever you may find yourself!
In my free time, I enjoy photography, playing the piano, spending time with my nieces and nephews, and having game nights with my friends!
