Why 6 months:

Porn addiction recovery is a rewiring of the brain and a complete surrender of the heart.  This is not a simple process.  It’s complex, it’s difficult, but it’s possible.  Recovery from porn addiction can take 3-12 months with ongoing support thereafter.

Overview:

This intensive involves one-on-one Biblical counseling sessions; intense individual learning via study, reading, homework, and prayer utilizing resources, custom homework and journaling; check-ins in various formats (zoom, email); and goal setting and accountability in several areas of life.  In general, the counseling journey moves from where we come from, to our present, and eventually to what moving forward looks like, all within four domains- spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational.  Investigating your story from early childhood until now, we seek to uncover core issues and develop a Biblically healthy path forward. 

This Biblical counseling program is structured, intensive, and tailored to the client.

The intensive is divided into 2 halves.  The first half is the most intensive with the second half becoming less intensive.  Each is generally characterized by:

• Months 1-3: detox, emotional surges, cravings, stabilization and progress

  • 14.5 sessions of one-on-one counseling, plus a 3-hour intensive, check-ins

  • Homework, reading, self-study, journaling

• Months 4-6: internal shift, relationship restoration, new lifestyle taking root, brain rewiring, restoring intimacy, pursuit of purpose, increasing relapse resistance, changing of spiritual maturity

  • 8 sessions one-on-one counseling, check-ins

  • Homework, reading, self-study, journaling, group participation

The man going through the intensive will encounter:

• Initiation of immediate practical steps: computer/phone blockers, restrictions, accountability, etc

• Biblical counseling in the spiritual, physical, emotional, and relational domains

• Goal setting in the spiritual, physical, emotional, and relational domains

• Discipleship

• Core issues in-depth work:  life history, milestones, trauma, abuse, upbringing

• Lifestyle modifications: physical exercise plan, tracking, and accountability, sleep, nutrition, recharging

• Life purpose development and execution

• Community and accountability:  home church attendance, men’s ministry attendance, support group attendance after 1st half (if none within home church, either within So That We or external)

• 25.5 hours of one one-on-one Biblical counseling encompassing  teaching, discipleship, & coaching

Billing

The 6 months are divided into 2 halves with more sessions in the first half than in the second half.

2 payments: $1,954 payable upon registering and $836 payable prior to the start of the second 3 months.

Although not a requirement, each man is encouraged to have a church sponsor who may be able to pay a portion of the expenses and to which he will attend church regularly.
